Writing our many selves with Bye Bye Binary

How can we, in our own words, create a space for encounter and gathering, to give voice to the abundance of our desires, the movements of our bodies, and the multifaceted reality of our identities?

To reinvent the content for this new season, in collaboration with the independent graphic design studio Ekta, we have begun a collaboration with Bye Bye Binary, a Belgian-French collective dedicated to typographic creation and experimentation, which develops skilful and daring new typefaces capable of bringing to life, in writing, the full range of gender representations and expressions. A resolutely inclusive, non-binary, post-binary typography, adapted to the French language. Through a variety of intertwined glyphs, ligatures and other combinations devised by Eugénie Bidaut, Camille Circlude and Mariel·le Nils—all members of the Bye Bye Binary collective—the letters interconnect and trace new forms, as beautiful as they are meaningful, liberating our words and imaginations from the oppressive constraints within which our society all too often confines them.

We are proud to invite you to discover and make this new experimental space—to which our writing now opens up—your own, to reconnect with what makes language a living substance, a resolutely shared, collective and communal space. Another step along the path of our transformation, to build together a welcoming creative space, always in motion, open to the full diversity of our experiences and horizons.
