The author of *Rester barbare* will lead the discussion with Yasmine Yahiatene
Join us for a special post-performance talk following the showing of "La Fracture" on 11 November. In this powerful one-woman show, Yasmine Yahiatene sets out in search of her father, Ahmed, to piece together the memory of her Franco-Algerian heritage. Personal archive footage and historical documents intertwine to evoke exile, assimilation, and the scars of a complex memory.
About Louisa Yousfi
Louisa Yousfi, journalist, author, and presenter of the political programme "Paroles d'honneur", will join Yasmine Yahiatene for a rich and captivating discussion. Her political journey has been deeply influenced by her family history and her status as a Frenchwoman of Algerian origin in France. She has notably published *Rester barbare* with Éditions La Fabrique. Taking as her starting point Kateb Yacine’s statement: “I feel I have so much to say that it is better for me not to be too cultured. I must retain a kind of barbarism; I must remain a barbarian.” Louisa Yousfi sees this as a magic formula – both an aesthetic motto and a political fable – that brings together Chester Himes, Toni Morrison, Booba, PNL and a whole savage cohort laying siege to the Empire.
This event offers a rare opportunity to engage in dialogue with these two exceptional women, both deeply involved in contemporary thought. Click here to book your tickets.
